Abacus’ Count On Us To Care Programs

At Abacus, we value the relationship that we have built with our customers. We want each and every customer to receive the best quality care possible. Our employees are proud of their personal and professional role they play in our community. Many are involved with church programs while others are involved in charity and volunteer opportunities. As a company, we are proud to be a community partner with several organizations and hope some of our neighbors will join us with their support.

JuCan Foundation – “Saving children and rescuing families who are fighting for a cure with the first three letters in Cancer CAN (C-onquer, A-dvocate, N-ext Generation!)”

“As a child, Julia received the nickname “Ju” from her family and it stuck. When first diagnosed with cancer, her father Jonathan Cobb, a cancer survivor, looked at Julia and said “Ju, the first three letters in ‘cancer’ are ‘can’. You do what you can and let God do the rest.” So began the”JuCan” trademark that others came to know and love. Her mantra was “JuCan-UCan-GodCan.”

Julia’s family created the JuCan Foundation to help raise pediatric cancer awareness. In the process, the Cobb family became the first family to walk across America – 4,000 miles from Disneyland to Disney World. The Foundation and their community supporters provide families receiving treatment in Houston with assistance through:

JuCan Annual Toy Drive for the MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital, and for local Houston families who have been identified as needing special assistance.
The JuCan Castle, a facility that will house families traveling to the Texas Medical Center (TMC) for treatment, remains the major mission of the JuCan Foundation.
All JuCan retail store sales and donations are used to support the continuing awareness, education and support for children with cancer.

Lucky Dog Rescue, Inc. – a non profit animal welfare organization. They do not have a shelter facility, but animals are available for adoption on their website. Lucky Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based organization. They provide rescue services, veterinary care, foster care and adoption for stray and abandoned dogs. Lucky Dog focuses its efforts in the Houston area to provide care for animals through adoption, donations, volunteer opportunities and foster care.

The Rose – a health care provider consisting of board certified radiologists and specialized technical staff to provide advanced breast cancer screening, diagnostic services including mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies and treatment to more than 40,000 uninsured and underinsured people people annually. In addition to monetary donations, The Rose has several other sponsorship opportunities:

Annual Ensemble Theatre Event benefitting the Houston area African American community. Filling the theatre seats will fund 400 mammograms.
Fundraisers – Community members, schools, businesses and clubs can donate their time and energy to host events benefitting The Rose. Events have included craft shows, raffles, garage sales, carwashes, marathons and many others.
Volunteer Opportunities – Sometimes donations of time are invaluable to organizations like The Rose. We need volunteers for clerical duties, data entry, special events and health fairs, research, answering inquiries, etc.
